A Tribute to Norman Ng

Earliest Picture of a very youthful and skinny Norman Ng in his early adolescence.

Norman Ng was in so many ways a typical Canadian born Chinese raised in the Markham/Richmond Hill area of the Greater Toronto Area. Though I never knew him as a younger person, I am told that he always had a mind of his own and always marched to the beat of his own drum. As mentioned in the Lineage sections of this website, it was also in his early elementary school years when he was repeatedly and regularly visited by the mysterious Chinese Woman In Yellow. Night after night she would come and and specifically sit down with Norman and teach him all about the energetic and etheric body amongst other esoteric knowledge. From what I have heard, Norman then forgot about these interactions and went on to having a pretty quite adolescence. Life was good and fairly uneventful asides from some adolescent mischief. Overall Normal was quiet, insightful but fiercely independent and always had a sense of who he was.

A young robust Norman being himself.

Normal was always clear about who he was.

Sometimes you can see the weight of responsibility Normal wore on his shoulders.

Well into Adulthood, Norman found himself quite the success at what he enjoyed doing; that being high end hairstyling. He had a full Roster of regular high-end clients that kept him busy, very socialized and quite well-off. It was during that this time that he started to remember. He remembered the Mysterious Chinese Woman in Yellow. With this was his sudden talent to heal instantly without touch. Norman became fascinated and had plenty of clients and friends to develop his skills. He was the Healing Hair Stylist. It didn’t take Norman long to realize that what he did wasn’t just a form of healing. It was bigger. It was much bigger. It was a truth and understanding of the Universe that could be used for healing amongst other things. The sky wasn’t enough to set a limit. In fact, it was always Norman’s statement that there are no limits. The fruits of this practice is without limit. It was shortly after Norman rediscovered himself as a healer that he met Lorman Ip (Headmaster of Sacremyst Academy) at a substance-free conscious dance party in Liberty Village in Toronto. By this time, Lorman was already studying the mystery school tradition and also was rediscovering some of his old memories and abilities . The two hit it off right away. After all, they had much in common. They were both Chinese Canadian men with long hair; had strange childhood experiences and are able to do healings for people (at this time, they were different forms of healings). Over the next couple of years, every restaurant table, cafe table, park bench and car seat was a classroom. Norman and Lorman shared their knowledge back and forth. As far as Formless Movement, it was obviously more one way than the other. As much as they had a respect for each other’s knowledge they also argued like brothers. It exposed how stubborn and pompous they both were. They however lovingly accepted each other for just that. It was around this time that Norman precipitated a name for what he did. He called it “Formless Movement” or in Chinese “無形能量” (Mo Ying Lung Leung - Cantonese) One of their biggest disputes between them was the idea of teaching. Lorman was very concerned about Formless Movement getting loss to the sands of Time especially if anything would happen to Norman. Norman did not disagree with that obvious fact, but for his own reasons, Norman was very resistant to doing so for a long time.

Norman had a youtube channel, but covered his face for the same of modesty and personal privacy.

It was around this time that Norman and Lorman lost touch for almost two years. During this time, Norman inexplicably became sick and had to stop working at his hairstyling business. Lorman had no idea about this until they met up again. Lorman was flabbergasted to see the shape that Norman was in. Norman was always youthful for his age, but now showed many signs of aging and weight loss. This was when Norman started becoming convinced to do something to preserve his knowledge.

Eventually, Norman did end up starting up a YouTube Channel to talk about formless, albeit being a private man, he chose to hide his face for these videos. He even created some videos feature graphics and music but energetically programmed by him to heal specific ailments such as head aches or menstrual pains.

Norman also started to speak more publicly to let them know that this thing called “Formless Movement” exists in the hopes of finding successors. By this time, Lorman was already able to do Formless Movement on a healing basis and constantly pushed Norman towards more teaching.

As if he already had knowledge of what is to come, Norman speaks with emotion.

As Norman’s health stabilized and seem to be promoting his brand, the two of them again lost contact. As weird and non-sensical as this was, that is how things rolled out - as though the universe had this planned out all along.

Norman always had a love for bubble tea.

So another 2 years or so rolled by. Out of the blue, Norman reaches out to Lorman with a photograph of a stage in a well known Chinese indoor mall. Having received this message, Lorman became excited and immediately replied, elated to hear from Norman. Norman revealed his plans to use this stage for public outreach and to really get the name of Formless Movement out there.

When the two met up again after this communication, Lorman as thrown back to see Norman in a wheel chair. This is when all things became serious for all parties. Norman was trying to establish some sort of foundation while racing against time. Even in his frail state, Norman’s powers were evidently powerful. He was phasing between times and worlds and bringing back insight and information.

During the last two weeks of Norman’s life, Lorman spent as many waking moments as he could with Master Norman Ng. During this time, Norman developed a distrust of the world, even to some of his closer students. The trust between those two only grew. Lorman did what he could to help Norman during the last challenging days. Because of the nature of who he was, Norman was actively fighting spiritual battles during this time and asked for Lorman to do certain energetic procedures from the mystery school tradition to help him. Norman even asked to be initiated as an Adept under Lorman. Lorman agreed and it was done. Not only did a calm come over Norman after the initiation, but he reported the conflict to be over and won. From that moment on, the two men had a reciprocal relationship. Norman was Lorman’s Mentor in Formless Movement while Lorman was Norman’s Initiating teacher in the mystery school tradition. All this only proves the wisdom of the universe. It was meant to be all along. The two practices needed each other.

The only known photo of Norman during his last days in a wheel chair with Lorman Ip in the background doing the Formless Movement Healing under the request of Norman.

The Mystery school had the power of initiation and the tools of special rituals to provide containment, divine authority and specialized rituals for the protection of the individual and their energetic / soul bodies. Formless Movement provided the engine to express the divinity within. With out the first, Formless may be compromising to the individual. Without Formless, the Mystery tradition has no substance as a foundation.

For Norman, it was unfortunately too late. By the the Norman was in hospital custody, there wasn’t much that could be done. I also accept that Norman was a special case. He was the first Master and Shaman of his kind. He completed what he was supposed to do and now it was time to move on.

It was late morning of March 17th, 2022 while driving that I received the phone call that I was dreading. Norman was gone. My heart was immediately filled with sadness and regret. I regretted not spending more time with him. Nothing to do with Formless. I missed him at that moment and I miss him now as a friend. I miss talking and even arguing with him. Sharing food and having bubble tea with Norman was a joy. I really would have wanted to have done more of that with him. I have since to ever meet another friend like Norman Ng.

I will be forever grateful to Norman for unlocking these abilities within me. I am grateful for all the people I am able to help and will help because this man lived.

I will also be forever dutiful to Norman Ng. His legacy and name will always live on in my work. I will pass on the Formless Movement Modality safely and healthy to all parties as a shamanic practice .

It is because of Norman that all future Shamans in our tradition will know ourselves as divine and will lead the world in such a way.

Norman will always be with us. He is somewhere looking down at his legacy being passed on in the best way possible.

Without putting words in his mouth I can only imagine that Norman would want all of us to unite , grow in our power and heal humanity as a whole.

Rest Assured Norman, that neither you nor your work will ever be forgotten.

The final resting place of the Great Shaman/Teacher/Master

The name that Norman Ng settled on to describe what it was that he did. The name is reminiscent of something that is all-encompassing. It has hints of Bruce Lee’ s martial philosophy and pays homage to Ancient Chinese Wisdom.
